Glaxo Building, Lister Hospital Refurbishment

The Glaxo Building in The Lister Hospital is a specialist Adult Day Treatment Centre (ADTU) housing a series of rooms from lounge areas to interview rooms, washroom and staff areas. These all facilitate the daily treatment of patients at a local level where they enjoy freedom of movement whilst remining under the supervised safety and care of the staff.

The facility had previously been used for the care of the elderly, although the trust had an ambition to change the use to an ADT centre for patients to be able to call by for consultation and interviews. This meant the building had to be altered to be able to receive the new patient group.

Kingsway Group were brought in to provide the solution for the doorsets in which a range of doorsets were specified and installed at the Glaxo Building from anti-barricade solutions to corridor and washroom doorsets. These improved the safety and security within the centre and assisted in creating an environment that promotes interaction between staff and patients.

The whole project was delivered as complete doorsets ready for site installation besides the double and leaf and half doorsets which were supplied as frame and door packs. This greatly assisted in the final finished quality of the project and helped to keep the project running to time. Having doors delivered already hung in the frames also ensured correct fire compliance.

As a result of the project the day centre is well used in its role as a Treatment Centre and provides an excellent service that is both inviting for patients and safe for staff.
