The facility in Coventry has 7 step down flatlets that provide the opportunity to safely test independent living skills prior to re-integration into the community. These sit outside of the ward environment with their own access. There is a communal area, although each unit is self-contained with its own facilities for self-catering and laundry. The service Cygnet Health provide bridges the gap between hospital and community living and offers extensive engagement and therapy for people to help them enhance their daily living skills and become as independent as possible.
Kingsway Group were involved in a vital part of the design if this facility by providing the client and architect a full turnkey scheduling package in the Kingsway Group 3 step process:
Design – meeting with client and architect to understand project brief and work from floor plans to provide costed door schedule.
Define – produce drawings of each door type for clinical teams to give input and make final specification improvements.
Deliver – co-ordinate delivery with main contractor to fit with their phasing plan to ensure an on-time and snag free installation.
The final result was the supply of over 300 complete anti-ligature doorsets.
SWING anti-barricade doorsets were used for every bedroom and en-suite, complete with Duralux privacy vision panels, equipped with Oval Drive single key system. Associated door hardware also from the Kingsway anti-ligature range to provide a complete anti-ligature solution.
SOLO single action, fire rated doorsets from Kingsway Group cover were specified for every corridor and fire compartment, fitted with the Pyrolux clear glazed vision panel system.
As a certified BM Trada ‘Q’ mark door manufacturer all fire rated doorsets were plugged as being fire compliant to BS476 part 22.
On Thursday 2nd March 2017 Cygnet Hospital Coventry held its Grand Opening Day event. The event was attended by nearly 200 guests including service users, bed managers, commissioners and special guest, the Lord Mayor of Coventry, and with Debra K Osteen, the president of UHS (US based parent company of Cygnet Healthcare), cutting the ribbon!
