This £242m development program has transformed the UK's highest security psychiatric hospitals into a non-institutional facility. The Broadmoor complex houses around 210 male patients with severe mental illness, most of whom have been convicted of serious crimes.
The 18-month project has won first place for environmental engineering and sustainability at the I.C.E South East England Engineering Excellence Awards. The programme of work at the high-security psychiatric hospital in Crowthorne includes a brand-new energy centre, which includes a boiler which turns woodchips into fuel.
Kingsway worked with Broadmoor to provide a solution for the high security vision panels, the Duralux, high security hatches and a bespoke Talk Thru System.
